Happy Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year of the snake! My sister had given me these adorable Chinese outfits for the kids which she bought when she lived in Shanghai. She asked for some photos of the kids in them and this was the perfect opportunity to show them off. Auntie Nat, if you're reading...this one's for you! I especially love the little Chinese dress for Alia. She typically dislikes wearing dresses or skirts and would wear leggings all day long if she could...but it took no amount of persuasion for her to wear this. I think the promise of a red envelope of money helped some :) This is the first year Alia understood  Chinese New Year to some extent. At her school, they made a red lantern of paper and also a red envelope with a "gold coin." She was excited to put this in her piggy bank. Her goal is to save up for a swing set or seesaw. (I have no heart to tell her it will take many gold coins to save up for these items.)

It's SO hard to get a good photo of both kids together, especially with Kian. He's 23 months and running around like a little cavemen. Last thing he wants to do is partake in a photo shoot. But this is what we got as they were playing outside our backyard deck. Good exercise and an excuse to dress up for the new year.
