Thanksgiving in Tahoe

We decided to take a last minute trip to Squaw Valley in Tahoe this Thanksgiving through the weekend. It was the first time the kids saw snow and our only hope was to build a snowman. Alia carried a baby carrot for the snowman's nose all the way from home in a small cooler.

We got so lucky with weather, it was in the low 60's during the day so not too chilly, and the road conditions were clear so driving was fine. The place we stayed at had a lift that went straight to the mountains, but it wasn't operating until the day we left due to low snow. However, there was a hill perfect for sledding on the hotel's ground that seemed to be the only place covered with snow (maybe they blew fake snow?).

There were lots of holiday activities such as free sleigh rides, a gigantic handmade gingerbread house, cookie decorating, and ice skating. So much fun (although exhausting at times with the kids). Looking back, I'm so glad we decided to go last minute!

At the hotel, the kids had fun watching Netflix shows on the ipad (I don't know how parents did it prior).

Tim helped Alia build a tiny snowman - she brought the carrot all the way from home

Alia ice skated for the first time, and Kian wanted a go, wearing his snow boots

Sledding fun - the kids had a blast. Poor Tim was so tired carrying the sled and kids up the hill numerous times.

Hotel had free sleigh rides around the block!

Hotel's amazing gingerbread house. All this is handmade!

At Squaw Village - they had a jumpy thing that was pretty cool - Alia was excited to try it.

Bye bye Squaw, see you next time
