First Dance Recital

Alia started taking dance lessons a few months ago. It was a starter ballet/gymnastics 8 wks course for 3-4 years old. She tends to run into things a lot (ie. is a bit clumsy) and so her teachers recommended some sort of gym class. Tim took her ever Sunday morning and they made a ritual out of it, getting chocolate milk afterwards. A few Sundays ago, they celebrated the end of the session by having a dance recital. Since the kids are so young, the recital is pretty informal and it's basically done in the same room as a regular class except parents sit around in chairs. I think that's a great idea - it's kind of scary being up on stage with a big audience looking at you if you're only 3. They run around a lot, stretch and do things like crab walks. They also pretend they are ice and fire princesses and sweep up with a broom, sort of like Cinderella. It's kind of cute and funny at the same time. It was my first time seeing Alia at class and Kian's as well. Not sure if we will sign up for another session. She has been wanting to take a music class but she's a bit young to start any type of instrument. Summer will be here soon and Tim wants her to take swim class so maybe that will be a good option to explore.
