Kian - 2 Months

Can't believe Kian (or Peanut as we affectionately call him) is already two months! He just had his check up and weighed in at 11 lbs 6 oz (50%) with height 23 1/4" (50%) and head 39.4 cm (35%). This is so different than with Alia who was always in the 75-80%tiles for height, weight and head and still is. She totally has Tim's big head and body while Kian has my proportions, haha.

Kian's doing pretty well for a newborn, sleeping mostly 4-5 hours at a stretch at night and taking a total of 3 1/2 naps during the day. The daytime is very similar to what Alia was doing at his age, but she was better at the night time sleep. I put both of them on a very strict sleep schedule and it's interesting to see how they both responded. At night, Kian is like a wound up clock. His circadian rhythm is so strong he just has to wake up every 4 hours whereas Alia could sleep for 6 hours stretches. However, Kian is easier to put down. I don't have to rock him to sleep I can put him down while awake and as long as he can sense me in the room, he can fall asleep on his own. With Alia I had to rock her to sleep until I sleep-trained her. Both are pretty good eaters, but Alia had pretty bad spit up whereas Kian has no spit up but lots of gas.

Kian also likes to be close to you all the time and likes to snuggle but Alia was more independent and didn't always like to be held. Will be interesting to see how these differences parlay into their emerging personalities.

Last but not least, Alia's got my stick straight hair whereas Kian has Tim's full-bodied wavy hair. I love running my fingers through it, so much volume for a two month old! Take a look for yourself.
