Renaissance School Art Show

A few weeks ago, we went to Alia's school's annual art show. The school puts on a gallery style art show once a year featuring pieces of art from all the children at school, even down to the pre-primary 2 year old class, which is Alia's class. The school takes this pretty seriously and rents out a place to "display" the art for a couple of weeks. There were delicious appetizers and drinks and parents and children were able to peruse the art at their leisure.

Alia had two pieces, a mosaic and a pencil line drawing. I think it's nice that the school encourages art at such a young age. Alia definitely has an affinity for it, she loves to paint at home. After the art show was over, they gave us the pieces to take home and we put it up on our mantle. Everyday she asks to see it and shows anyone who comes over her "art."

What was super cute was that during the show, Alia played outside with her "best friend" Naomi from school. Naomi and Alia started school on the same day and I've been told by the teachers that they really are best buds, always holding hands and hugging each other. Sure enough when I ask Alia who her best friend is, she says "Nomi." It's so nice to see her start to develop her own individual friendships. The pictures of them below says it all :)
