An Apple a Day...

A few weeks ago, we went apple picking with some of friends in Sebastopol at an organic apple farm called Gabriel Farms. We all met there and first had a yummy picnic before going off to pick apples. It was my first time at a farm and I had a blast running through the wide open apple orchards.

The apples were tiny since they were organic and many had black spots from a recent blight (I think that's like an apple disease!) but the farmers told us the taste was just as good if we peeled off the skin.

Sure enough, later on, Mama made apple tarts for everyone and our Fuji fresh-picked apples were as sweet as can be. I hope we can go apple picking next fall again!
