Christmas Eve Dinner

On Christmas Eve, I had the special treat of going out to a "grown-up" dinner with Mama and Dada. This is only the second time I've been to a nice restaurant, the first being in Hawaii. We went to this beautiful restaurant on Lake Merrit called the Lake Chalet. They have a huge boat deck outside, where in the summer, they serve food and drink. We ate inside because it was cold, but managed to sneak a picture outside where the tree was after dinner.

One good thing about this restaurant is that it was only 5 minutes away from home so we had time to enjoy dinner. I had a bit of split pea and ham hock soup, grilled snapper and salmon, roasted root vegetables, and celery root puree. But best of all, I got to sample a tiny bit of dessert, pineapple upside down cake and creme brulee. How delicious! A half hour later, on the ride home, I kept laughing hysterically for no reason at all. Mama was puzzled until she realized I had a sugar high! Suffice it to say, I slept extremely well that night. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
